Notizie concrete dell’edificio di culto le ritroviamo più cospicue solo nel 1871 quando la sede parrocchiale viene trasferita nella chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo, e in seguito nel 1875 nella chiesa di Santo Stefano. Nel 1877 viene demolita le precedente chiesa e viene inaugurata la nuova su progetto di Guglielmo Melluzzi intitolata ai santi Lorenzo levita e martire e Michele Arcangelo, in memoria dei precedenti edifici di culto.

Il convento agostiniano di Acquapendente venne fondato verso la fine del 1290 e con esso si iniziò ad edificare la chiesa di Sant’Agostino, caratterizzata da forme gotiche. Nel 1746 un’incendio distrusse completamente la chiesa, che solo un anno dopo fu completamente ricostruita dandole le forme che oggi vediamo.
